501 Powell Street - Temporary Modular Housing - DP-2017-01204

The Vancouver Affordable Housing Agency (VAHA), in partnership with the City and BC Housing, has submitted a development permit application to provide temporary modular housing on this site for homeless residents. The proposal consists of one three-storey building containing 39 social housing units.
If approved, the building will be in place on this site for up to five years, with the possibility to extend for an additional five year period.
The building will be managed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, by an experienced non-profit housing operator.
Under the site’s existing FC-1 zoning, the application is “conditional” so it may be permitted; however, it requires the decision of the Director of Planning
To learn more, a community open house has been organized by the City, VAHA and BC Housing. Notices regarding this open house were distributed previously.

We welcome your written comments (letter or e-mail) on these development applications. Comments should be received on, or before December 15, 2017, to be considered in the staff review. However, written comments will be considered up until the date of decision.
