The Vancouver School Board has applied to the City of Vancouver to partially replace the existing Dr. George M. Weir Elementary School on this site, as part of the Provincial Seismic Mitigation Program. The proposal includes:

• retention of the easternmost two-storey classroom block, with upgrading of fire safety and mechanical services;
• replacement of the remaining school building with a new two-storey school building; and
• site improvements including landscaping, play areas, and parking.

Under the existing RS-1, the application is “conditional” so it requires the decision of the Director of Planning.

We welcome your written comments (letter or e-mail) on these development applications. Comments should be received on, or before November 22, 2019, to be considered in the staff review. However, written comments will be considered up until the date of decision.

In reviewing this application, and before making a decision, the Director of Planning will also need to consider City by-law regulations, and Council-adopted policies and guidelines. Once a full application review is completed, a decision will be made.
